KiB - GiB Ranks Among The Dumbest Ideas Ever - The Unnecessary "i"

KiB and GiB solve a non-problem.

Everywhere in the digital domain and computers KB , MB, GB etc mean the binary, powers of 2 domain, EXCEPT in drive capacities. ie hard drives, SSD, Flash Drives etc. Some twit marketing type back in the 1950s/1960s decided that the capacities would "look" larger if they used MB where M is in the power of 10 domain (or they just couldn't wrap their head around binary numbers - whatever). It was a stupid idea then and an even more stupid idea now.

And, by the way, it is only applies in the advertising and cardboard box world. As soon as you look at the drive size on a computing device, it shows it in the powers of 2 domain.

But no, do we fix the problem by changing how drive capacities are shown in literature and on the cardboard box? Some really well meaning, ignorant person/group decides we should re-label everything is the entire computer world as xiB where "i" means it is in the power of 2 domain.

Yes there is an "i" in binary, but that isn't the point!
All I have to say about this "i" movement is Kibbles 'n Bits...

Sonicwall has lucid moments; this isn't one of them

How can you get "host up" alerts from a Sonicwall NSA and NOT get a "host down" alert? Even though both are configured correctly in Log/Settings. It's hard to imagine...

An Icon that isn't

In what world is the icon for "paste", as in the triad "cut, copy, paste", the symbol of a clipboard? Only in the weird Android world.

Don't think you're being manipulated?

Microsoft Office 365 is NOT available for Android Tablets, yet it is available for Android Phones. Now you ask, what is the difference? The answer is technically NOTHING. Oddly enough it does run on Surface Tablets... Yes, you want MS Office apps on a tablet, then spend BIG for a Windows tablet... but DON'T expect it to run on your Android Tablet. As Charlie Brown says: "Good Grief"!

Why is the Lenovo Touchpad Driver always Broken?

The Lenovo Touchpad driver has had a problem for years and it never seems to really get fixed. Turn off "tapping" and then reboot the system. Most of the time "tapping" is re-enabled; not what the user would want or expect. Sometimes it reboots and is actually still disabled; but the user never knows what state it will be in after the reboot. This is really annoying for those of us who need "tapping" always disabled. And yet, Lenovo engineers never appear to be able to fix the problem. This doesn't appear to be a "rocket science" type of problem. Makes you wonder...
